There is a day sailer on the cover of the Sept/Oct issue of Water Craft magazine, however it doesn't identify what it is. Is anyone able to identify this boat, name the designer etc. From the photo it looks less than 20 feet.

Thanks in advance.

Usually the cover photo of Watercraft is described at the upper corner of the masthead (of the magazine, with the publisher's address, etc) on -- don't have one handy, page 4? It's not a very prominent or long thing, "cover photo of Cockelshell by Masefield" or like.

Now you've got me excited - I grew up sailing a Lymington scow (we were allowed to go out once we turned 6 yrs old) which you couldn't capsize in a Force 6...

Have to get a copy of that mag.

Looks like it could be a small strip plank Fife recently built in France.Called Seabird I think.

I have sent an email to Water Craft magazine asking for information on this boat. Once I receive details I will post them here. Thanks for all of your help so far.

In WB 161 there is an artical about Alastair Garland who restores old boats in England. At the end of the artical is a picture of him removing a tarp from a little old fantail hull. The boat is badly in need of restoring and is called a "1897 Fife-designed gentleman's daysailor." It looks alot like the boat on the cover, and it is a British magazine so ... that is my best guess.

I went to "browse" the mag at the local bookstore. The name of the boat is not given. It is not Seabird as I previously thought. The photo was taken at the "Semaine du Golfe" on the Morbihan inland sea in France.A great gathering.Search continues.

That is ROASTBEEF, designed by Gustave Caillebotte circa 1900 and reconstructed at the Association Sequana at the Ile des Impressionists, which Eric Sea Frog has discussed on the forum in the past. See also WB No. 142.
