From our mate TonyH in Sydney... a package of scans of old Rudder and MotorYacht magazines!! Bloody brilliant thank you very much mate you made my day! cheers

Now it was interesting for one single sheet contained within the many sheets of old boat designs... one sheet of numbers of a "26ft Luggar"... now I looked at these and wondered "geez thats the first Ive heard of someone designing a 26ft pearl luggar theyre usually around 50ft" and takin a closer look I was reminded of the many months I spent a fair while back drawing redrawing and redrawing then measuring and checking the down sized drawings I was making of the 50ft Trixen in the West Aussie Maritime Museum that one TonyH had sent me some time before then the weeks of makin that terrible model from ****e balsa then a more recent memory of the hoonberrys scuttling her in the pond

Now these drawings and numbers I gave to Tony when I finally got to meet him in Freo unfinished and rough since Im a writer not an artist and definantly not a NAs earhole... but I gave them to him along with several chunks of Tuart and I think Sheoak? maybe Jarrah to take back with him to enjoy... never expected to see them again...

But I had had a blonde moment and given him the total package and not made copies for myself! but I was happy with that since he had sent me so many scans of so many fine old boats and I reckoned I could redo them if I wanted as the numbers were all on the computer no worries...

Now not bein one in the know with the ol fella upstairs I wasnt to know that a few years later he would pour water all over all my plans and books and such and in the process drown the computer... and so was quite totally unprepared for the loss of the drawings and numbers of the lugger I had spent so many long hours pouring over

Then it hit me!! These were my numbers!! I knew this cause there in the top right hand corner was my hand writing saying "Tonys copy"

So was it karma that caused Tony to include the sheet? or was he aware of putting them in there as a surprise? Or was he totally unaware that he had done it? Who knows (well aside from Tony perhaps ;) ) but I tell yer what mates

This was a wonderful gift from one of our best shipmates here

Thank you TonyH yer a flamin legend!

I owe yer one mate!! Let me know when yer coming back this way and I will shout yer a beer at the rubbetty ;) Hey!! Theres a new fangled harbor pub here in Bunbury overlooking... the ROSE F!!!... so maybe a beer an a yarn with the owners if I can ever find em at the Rose no sign of them in all this time... maybe Im just goin at the wrong time eh? Anyway mate I owe yer one!

Hmmm... Dame Edna is a flaming legend too - and since Tony lives in Sydney, are you trying to tell us something Dingo? ;) :D :D :D

Hi guys! Nice to "hear" from both of you!

You might have noticed that I was not coming here very much anymore....

The main reason is that I am pretty busy: although i had sworn to myself that I will not do it again, I have re-rigged a small design office...well, may sound like I am a bit of a masochist, but I could not be very efficient working on my own all the time, so here I go with a small staff: two young architects: one naval arch. and one "house" arch., one CAD draftman and a "secretary" (my daughter actually...so it's more like justifying a substantial increase in her pocket money, since she is now near twenty...and real cute: how can I resist saying "yes" to whatever she wants...or almost ???).

The other reason is, alas, how sad I have just tooo often felt readind some post here, the political ones I mean (the "bilge's). I can't have any discussion at all with Americans anymore, even here in Saigon: it is unbelievable how these once open minded people have become! Sorry David! I know this does not apply to you, and you know better than I ... :( .

Still, nice to "see" you two, guys. Hope work is OK with you, Shane, and, moreover, health with you, David.

Drop a word or two on my e-mail-box sometimes, will always be a pleasure. And the few other I had some nice chats with as well: that's why I wrote these few lines here.

Cheers

Luke

Or even hope to! eh Tony? Cross dressin may well be one way to make fame and fortune but who in their right flamin mind wants to be immortalized as the "housewife from Moonie Ponds" with purple hair for gawds sake!!

ah well each to their own ;)

No worries there Tony mate... As for the Rose shes still sittin there has a hell of a lot of snot hanging from her mooring lines wonder how a fella finds out who owns her? Wouldnt mind givin them a hoi and having a yarn

As for Elly Steven your a cruel man you know that dont you? Flamin Elly! what a wonderful ol lady she is... mmmm last I spoke with Michael (mmd) he reckoned that Bill Ludwick was going to do some much needed mainenance on her backbone and such... would be a shocking state of affairs if he didnt get to do it and she ended up in a real bad state of affairs simply cause her owner couldnt be bothered (or whatever reason it may be) to do her maintenance after shes been around and sailing for how long? 130+ years... MAN she is one gorgeous grand lady of the sea that girl!

Luke mate Ive wondered what happened to you... missed our yarns old freind will zap you an email right away to say gidday in the time honored Dingo way... ala lengthy!! :D

David mate be well ol son... actually Tonys probably young enough to be ol Dame Eds grandson whipper snapper is our young Tony! :D But seein as he also has a penchant for fine ol Aussie luggars we wont hold that against him eh ;)
