This is an interesting video copy of a film produced during WW2.

"Giant Killers" is a thirty-minute color film showing production of the 80' PT boats at Elco Navy Division. This video is in three parts.

That was interesting. I forwarded your message to all my gear head friends. Mystic Seaport is restoring an experimental PT boat engine. It is a Hall Scott engine that turned out to not have enough power so the Packard became the engine of choice.

Nothing like a blank check.

I loved seeing the guy finish the keel with an adze.

I've seen and heard some of the supercharged V-12 Parkard engines installed in wooden boats on Lake Tahoe. These are very impressive machines that burn aviation gasoline. There are a couple of PT boats in running condition in my neck of the woods. I went aboard a Higgins AR (air rescue) boat a few years ago. They are similar to the 80' PTs but are equipped like an ambulance.
