HELLO EVERYBODY,
JUST REGISTRED IN THIS GREAT COMUNITY.
I AM AN ITALIAN GUY, FROM VENICE, AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL UNDERSTAND MY ENGLISH !!
I AM PLANNING TO BUILD A MAHOGANY BOAT, I WOULD LIKE A BOAT THAT WILL FIT IN A GARAGE WITH AN INBOARD ENGINE. THERE ARE SO MANY PLANS AVAILABLE THAT I REALLY NEED SOME HINT.
MAYBE SOMETHING TO BUILD WITH DOUBLE PLANK AND SIDES NO TOO CURVED SO THAT PLYWOOD WILL BEND WITHOUT TO MANY PROBLEMS.
WHAT WOULD YOU PICK ????
THANKS EVERYBODY
;)

I am sorry I cannot hear you!
The use of all capitol letters is considered shouting in USENET and Forums.
Outside of that welcome to our happy harmonious family.
Thanks for that, Dave - my ears were ringing, too!
Would Ken Basset's "Rascal" be a candidate for our new Italian friend? I believe that someone here on the forum is building one and has posted pictures. If not "Rascal", I believe Zimmerman has a "gentleman's runabout" that is quite elegant and plans for same are available from our sponsor.

Sorry for the capital letter, i am not use to forums, this is my first time.
I hope you can hear me now.
Thanks for the hint , do you mean those plans are available at the wooden boat store?
I'll take a look.
I'll get back soon,
Thanks and
Ciao

Here is a very nice OB18 from Jacques Mertens at www.boatplans-online.com (http://www.boatplans-online.com/proddetail.php?prod=OB18)
Good luck

I am building a rascal and it is my first boat. Construction has beeen going well and it hasn't been too difficult. I hope to start planking this week. There are some pics posted in the building repair forum. It is an and outboard design but they have been built as an inboard as well but you would have to modify the design yourself.

Thank You Dave,
the boat you have shown me is a nice one, but i would like something with a bigger deck and little more classic, like old looking !
About 17 feet long.
What do you think about those inboard mercury with jet drive? I think they are cool and also easy to install.

SO you want to look good AND go fast! Way past my area of experience - I only look good on Tuesdays and I hardly ever go fast smile.gif
Ed Monk wrote a book on building small boats back in the 30s and it comes with plans for a couple of runabouts - look very nice, but count the building time in terms of years.
On any boat - the top deck is mostly your call - extend the front, extent the back - just keep the structure intact.

Hey Tom,
it is really nice, is that gonna be single planked ? How long did it take you to get at this point ?
It really looks nice, congratulations and thankyou for posting it.
Dave who was Mr.Monk and what kind of boats you were talking about.
I think the jet drive lets you use your space better like an I.O. and you can also run on shallow water, and it is actually cheap, and the installation is easy.
We will see, how do you like it?
Do you have any boatbuilding experience?
Thaks and talk to You guys soon.
Andrea
