Here's an interesting site that was brought to my attention. The video is pretty nice viewing too. There is nothing held back here, it's all first cabin. I'm a motorboat guy but even I have to admit....this is pretty slick! Watch the video.

I didn't know that Mylne drew Britannia when apprenticing to G. L. Watson.

My dad left me an unfinished model of her that I want to finish and display. Mylne's 1930 Bermuda rig looks nice on her.

The video claims he was the draftsman (or main designer?) while working for Watson. It seems to me to be the type of claim that is hard to prove (or disprove). Similar claims are made (for gain of one sort or another) frequently enough in many industries. But be that as it may, his undisputed body of work (if that's the right way to say it) is impressive enough. Mostly I like these beautiful boats cutting through the water under a lot of sail! Mylne is well known enough not to need any intro on these pages, but the video is so gracious.

He was a great designer, but had to live his life and it seems, eternity, in the shadow of Fife.

Sort of as it is here in respect to a certain eastern family of designers?

The boats speak for themselves; they are beautiful, sailing with the sort of easy movement, speed and effortless grace that could turn me into a sailor!

The drawings shown are lovely. They look like display drawings, perhaps for the customer.

looks like a very even lava flood followed by an explosive eruption of some sort, over the cave layer.

Major thead drift, but Fingals cave is the same geological form as the Giant's causeway, which is on the other side of the Irish Sea

Oh, that's a spectacular formation, just amazing. Actually, they both are.

Back to Mylne.

when I was growing up the Royal Mersey Yacht club in Liverpool would bring their boats to race in the Menai Straits regatta.

They had a dayboat designed by Mylne in the 30]s about 23 feet/

The local Yacht club, the Royal Anglesey had their dayboat designed by Fife, a little smaller and not as seaworthy but what a beauty.

I'm surprised no one has tried to reproduce them over here. This is my friend's boat.

I should love to see some of Mylne's interiors, if such photos were available (of unspoiled boats). Is there someplace that they might exist?

Catalina yachts are one of the best yachts that are available right now. If you take one to a yacht club or a boat club you will be highly respected. These yachts are known for their extremely luxurious interiors yet they are known to pack quite a punch.
