This would be a great opportunity if it were possible to be a fan of the Seattle Boat Show. This event has to be one of the most boring and least informative of any boating activity in the 'hood. It is a good place to buy Shamwows though.

But thanks for thinking of us Dave!

Hmmm. $5000 of Shamwows. You could use them for oil sponges in the bilge!

I'd say it would be great if Woodcraft or Cross Cut Hardwoods were exhibitors. But I suppose it could go a long way towards a new electronics package or maybe a bunch of stuff from Fisheries Supply. I think they exhibit there...no?

I go to the Portland version. Acres of fiberglass and glitz. We wooden boat folks have our tiny little ghetto - off in the corner. Nonetheless, I joined. There are outboard dealers at the shows. Lessee... $5,000. That'd probably get me a Honda 25 or 30... plus a few Shamwows. That'd be a nice engine to build my next boat around!

This year's going to be different, Lew! We're going to have a (admittedly tiny) wooden boat section this year, and I'll be there doing a traditional lapstrake demonstration project as well as a stitch & glue demonstration. Sure, 94% of the show will suck, consisting of mostly those bloated, blobby, half-melted looking four-story fiberglass powerboat monstrosities heavily discounted to just being utterly unaffordable and unsustainable rather than completely f***ing unaffordable and unsustainable, but we're trying to at least gain a foothold for rationality and aesthetics and practical do-it-yourselferism.

In the interest of retaining our souls, may we all plan ahead for CWB's Home Built Boats Weekend?

Saturday and Sunday, July 24-25, 2010.

If you've built a boat, bring it. If you want more information on how to build a boat, come and visit. The truly brave will get a chance to arm wrestle James McMullen. (We're also considering a Pat Ford dunk tank.)

Arm wrestling? Tim, I thought we had agreed on Irish Stand Down with oars at six paces.

I will correct the festival program. My apologies.

As eki-jitsu is almost certainly the best way to resolve disputes with jet-skiers, we might as well train ourselves for it

Possible lecture?

"Jet Ski Dispute Resolution, or, How To Hide A Body In The Woods."

January 29th to February 6th

This is bad timing

Well, I guess I could fly out of St. Pete after Claudia & David's EBS on the 30th..... :o

Guess I better get my name in the drawing ;)

OK...I'll have the time and have wanted to meet you anyway James, so i will make it a point to get by. If Matgo comes (fat chance) we can make a really big deal out of it.

If I'm lucky, I may be able to scour a free pass for the deal! And I can always use a few more Shamwows. You know, the Germans make really good stuff, and if you spill coke on you carpeting....that is gonna smell!

Bodies is easy. Jetskis is harder to dispose of.
