Merry festive season to you too there Richard. I agree with previous. Very distinctive hull(s) and an equally distinctive looking piece of s**t to look right out of place on her. Post this info in as many places as you possibly can.( I am sure you are). There should be others along with helpful ideas from experience.
That is the best you can do, so don't add worry to you task. If it is meant to be, it's as good as on the way back to you mate.

If he was stupid enough to steal a one-of-a-kind boat like that, then he cant be smart enough to evade the law for very long.

Indeed! How did the owner find this "skipper"? I've never gotten a delivery without either knowing the owner or being recommended by somebody who knew me and the owner.
Sept. 9 - That's a long time for such a distinctive boat to be missing. Sexual offender is not the best experience to qualify one as a delivery skipper, maybe he's just lost.
I cast my net a bit wider, but I come with a pretty heavy duty set of references. I also sail with a "Find me Spot" so the owner always knows where the boat is.

Maybe he's in jail and the boat's been confiscated by whatever police department.

HeŽs not in jail, checked that out. I hired him because he was the middleman , or broker of the sail and had I been allowed to enter the USA I would have sailed her myself. The guy has been trouble from day 1. The boat was seen Dec. 16th,south of Gilberts Marina in key Largo Florida.
I didnŽt know of his credentials till ,I started my search on internet.

Ar the police there too lazy to contact Miami police? Or is it a jurisdictional political problem?

The guy that took your boat was blonde and dyed his hair black and the police records show that.

I called the DADE County police and gave them all the info.
They said I can call back in a couple weeks and find out the results.
I was given a TIP # to refer to. But Richard is going to have to get in touch with the DADE county officials or something or visa versa to get his boat if they recover it. Should not be a problem.
Thats all I can say on the internet.
Wish I could say more but..
Rickyj,
I found two address'es on the guy. I think the first one might be the best as it had his birthdate.

Yanno..... The WBF could be in big trouble if this turns out to be something other than what has been described. If this Erdinger guy is innocent, and just being set up by "Rickyj" for some personal vendetta, I'd say he's got one hell of a libel suit all drawn up for him....

Looking around for a coast guard list of licensed captains. Does not seem to exist.
In professional licensing in the state of Maine there exists boards for each disipline, where a complaint may be filed, reviewed and acted upon if necessary.
Disiplinary actions are published for the consumer review.
Don't have any idea how the CG would protect consumers from child molesting captain boat thieves.

You should contact Seatow and Towboat US. These outfits are all over the place and should have the means to distribute information about your boat to all their operators. They are in the boat rescue business and this should count.

If the boat is in an area they operate, they should spot it.

4191 Ingraham Hwy.
Miami, Fl. 33133 Does not seem to exsist. 4190 is a corner lot and then you hit Sunshine st.
It is not on the other side of the road either. And it is not on the same side of the road further down.
The other address 3774 SW 27th Ln Frnt Miami, FL. is also bogus. it is an empty lot between 3772 and 3776. It is not on the opposite side of the street either.

Consider putting up a simple webpage with all the above info, particularly photos of the boat and the delivery skipper. Put your contact info on the page along with other contacts like the police.
Easier to post / email an URL than links to separate images. Also easier to update with new info -- and hopefully a happy ending with the boat being recovered. Best of luck!

Having just read through this thread and viewed the pics I cant for the life of me see the boats name or registration numbers (I thought they were a must have legal requirement?) perhaps if they were here actually thinking about it if they were ON the boat clearly visible it might help a lot more... unique looking Wharram by the way ;)
I was a tad worried for a second there reading Garreths posts... he being a delivery capn of some international fame
Ricky hows it going? Any word on the boat or the dip**** that took it?
Heres to a speedy recovery... be a tad more careful about your choice of delivery capn from here on Id say eh!

Notice that we have no boat name, a prominent police dept. photo, and name and address of the guy, a description of the guy, but not the boat, and an "owner" apparently out of country and unable to get a visa. Not to mention that the original poster has apparently abandoned the thread. Sounds like a smear campaign to me.

The name of the person that supposedly stole the boat was given. NONE of his 3 addresses checked out. All bogus.
The DADE county sheriffs is looking into it I was told. You need to go to the original post and re- read it all .
It is the second posting by a forum member asking for help that was out of the country and unable to get a visa.

I filed a report with the Dade county sheriff's office. They gave me a case number when this was first posted. I checked today and left a message to be returned as to what they found out.
They should be able to contact this guy and find out where the boat is.

According to folks there, it's said that the "owner" of this boat can't get into the U.S. because he allegedly has been involved in drug smuggling in Columbia, and at the time of the alleged theft of the boat by a convicted sex-offender posing as a "delivery skipper" the boat was allegedly loaded with several TONS of cocaine ...

Yes, but what would you be looking for? As one of the folks on sailing anarchy explained:
Well lets see if I have this straight. A year ago, a boat in Florida was sold by a woman in Michigan sight unseen to a man in Spain, by a middleman in prison (his release photo was taken 8/25/2009) who was to captain it to somewhere. It is 'registered' at a Yacht Club in Austria, was retrieved once by the USCG and returned to a convicted felon to sail away without a U.S. registration and with the OK of the new owner. This felon, after stealing the boat, walked into a police station and registered his home address. Rickyj's cousin, who was not available to meet with anyone here about the boat, drove by the house and found it abandoned for 'years' but BigAl saw Christmas lights on the same house. The Miami police no longer accept criminal reports from anyone who is not a US citizen, and the boat, listed as built in 1982 and 34 feet 2 inches on the Michigan title and as 35 feet here is listed by Rickyj on www.cruisincats.com as a 36 footer built in 1990....
Did I miss anything?
