guys,
a friend is looking at a endeavour 37 in fort lauderdale and wants to take it out to USVI. actually to Nevis where he has a vacation home with a mooring. We know it takes 3 days to sail from St Tomas to Nevis, Its the Fl to USVI that we aren't sure of.

anyway, my gut feeling is that is at least a 2 week deliver pushing hard.

what do you guys say?

It's upwind all the way. He has to decide whether to go through the Bahama chain or to tack North of the Bahamas and motor sail down East of the Bahamas.

If it were me I'd schedule some more time and enjoy the Bahamas.

Sometimes you can get less unfavorable winds close to the North coasts of DR and PR, but it can be crappy in there too.

Edited to add, I've never done that actual trip.

Read up on the Christmas winds. There was another thread that addressed this and other elements of the weather started by CRoss on doing a vacation in the winter months. Its taken sometimes a month to do this in small craft leaing dec till easing up about late feb if you do not like beating your brains out and staying wet. Oh thats right, thats sailing. LOL

Florida is the same longitude as Panama. You have 1000 miles of EASTING! Practice surf landings for Nevis. Antigua Classic is not untill spring anyway.Did I mention Ciguatera?
