I will be starting a Joel White 23 footer (transom version) after New Years (house projects) and have had trouble coming up with books on cold molding. I've read the Reuel Parker book and have started on the Woodenboat Magazine index. I have an eight year old copy of the Gougeon book and wonder if the new edition sheds more light on the subject. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Photos to follow.

I had both Gougeon editions, but read and used the latest. My advice is to read it several times. I did a quick read, and sometimes regretted not having re-read the chapter. I had the most problems with spiling, but had it down by the third layer (slow learner). My solution was to set a thin batten next to the secured veneer, then to staple the veneer I was shaping right up to the batten. Once the veneer piece is temporarily stapled in place bend the batten down and mark the line on the new veneer. Take the veneer off, cut and check for fit.
The new edition should have the latest in their epoxy recommendations.
Good luck, should be a great boat.

Dave;
You could try "Modern Wooden Yacht Construction" by John Guzzwell. It was published by International Marine and the ISBN # is: 0-87742-106-4. It was published in 1979 but the construction techniques are still relevant.

What! Nobody has mentioned Hub Miller's "The Laminated Wood Boatbuilder"?
I have no interest in that type of construction but I often read portions of Hub's book because it is probably the best how-to book I have ever seen. He doesn't miss a trick. There are so many precise drawings you could probably build a boat without reading the text. And you get numerous sets of lines and offsets for some of Hub's designs all for about $25. What a deal!

The Gougeon Brother book is what you need. I'd love to visit you doing this project sometime.
