Is it sufficient to ground a sacrificial zinc to the throttle control of a wood hull on shore power? We are drawing a good deal of power for power tools and heat. There is no easy way to run the wire to the interior. Is there any way to verify that the shaft is protected?

If she's in the water, you can attach a wire to the shaft, then run it overboard and hang a zinc in the water. The throttle control doesn't sound like very good protection.

Are the rest of your metal fittings (through-hulls, rudder post, etc.) bonded into the grounding system?

I'll have to check that out while I am grounding the shaft. Thanks.
