I am having trouble identifying a wood. I came across it in Mexico, they were using for boat planks. They pronounced it cedra or Sedra. The best english speaker there told me it was from Peru and was very good for no rot and no bugs. Anyone know?

Could be any number of Cedrela (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedrela) species. Spanish Cedar aka Cedro Hembra (Cedrela Odorata (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedrela_odorata)) being the most common.

Even though they're called "cedars", they more closely related to mahoganies.
