Mate, definately take the plane. Clear all away and lock up, take any valuables that you can't replace, let insurance deal with the rest. If it does hit you'll likely be stuck there without power, water etc.

Have they named it yet Shane? Or are they waiting for you to make a suggestion?

Son... Yer too little to stand up to a storm that size. If you'd taken after yer dear old dad, instead of yer mum, I might suggest riding it out, but you'll be blown through the neighbor's side wall on the first gust! And the no water for a week or more thing really stinks.....Literally.... Go.

Looks Nasty. Keep your head low, eh, Shane?

Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Australia issued its highest storm alert as Tropical Cyclone Laurence (http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/cyclone/index.shtml)’s winds strengthened to as high as 285 kilometers (177 miles) per hour as it approached the northwestern coast, where offshore oil and gas rigs were evacuated earlier.

If the BOM is right it should be down to Cat 1 long before it hits you:

Of course, BOM probably doesn't offer a guarantee ;)
