Wish the daughter good luck this weekend. She and Mom are flying out to the University of South Carolina. She is trying out for their Equestrian team and entrance to the school. Mom's first time on a plane and the daughter is in a knee brace right now.

Best of luck...No. One daughter did the scene there, then finishing school at a girls school in Mississippi......wish I had the money back.....the primary training was how to snag a wealthy husband, I think.....the s.o.b. is a real snob.....

I went there and a lot of my family too, including my sister. If you can disuade her from joining a soriety, do so.

If I recall, we have a pretty good equestrian team. And the football team beat Clemson! That makes the rest of the year so much better. Where is Bob Smalser? He's a Clemson graduate.

Son graduated from there this past April and daughter is a sophmore in the honors college. Let me know if your girls need any help - it's a great town to go to college in.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, she is a horse girl, rather be in the barn if she isn't riding. Not a big one for the social scene. Thanks for the offer cbcc. We will have to see if she has want they want. It's good to hear from someone with children attending already.

JC, You do realize that South Carolina is the Original USC?

The Equestrian center is just a couple miles from me. Absolutely gorgeous place with gentle rolling hills.

Cool. It looks like they will be having rain. Took them to SFO this morning at 0400hrs. They will be getting into Columbia at dusk and driving up to the center. Told them to take lots of pictures.

Let me know how they liked it. The weather hasn't been the best this weekend but not too bad. 2 hours from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach is not too bad when you're in college.

Just got off the phone with them. They Love it! My wife says she can see our daughter in such a place. The facilities are impressive. What a boon to the university to have gotten the property at such a bargan.
The daughter is sore and tired, but happy. The coach asked that she send another application to be placed in the athlete recruitment group. So we will keep the fingers crossed. We are SF bay area folks, so that proximity to the coast and the mountains is what we like.

Coming from the bay area she should have tried USC in the Aug/Sep time frame. May have had a very different view of it.

That may be why they have the clinics in December? When you are 17 and have a dream, nothing seems to bother you. She much prefers warm weather, but she'll get a surprise with the humidity I'm sure.
I'm going with her to Auburn Alabama this weekend. We will see how that goes.
