Looks like an interesting project, best of luck! The folks at North Bay Boat Works are a great bunch.

I happen to have a Ray Speck built 14' Whitehall in my storage container in Point Richmond, where it is getting some regular use for the first time in its life. It had been in a container in Sausalito until about a month ago. I've had two very brief email contacts with Ray, but he never said mine had any pedigree.

Mine is in fine shape, though in need of some varnish touch up, you are welcome to come have a look at it if it is of any use for you to do so.

I got a good idea. How about have Ray restore it at the school? Then he can give it to the foundation for people to use out of PT. Or did you already have a museum or something where it was to go after it was restored?

I don't know how many of Ray's boats have "pedigrees," but Miss America sounded nice. I was in on the ground floor of his career, not by intent, but by happenstance. He was setting up his first shop in Sausalito and needed a planer. I happened to have some money at the time and Ray said he'd build me a Whitehall boat if I fronted the money for the planer. This, I did, without clear knowledge of what I was getting. To say I was pleased with the result would be understating it greatly.

I was in PT over the past year and Ray never mentioned restoring her at the school. Besides, I want to row her again myself here in Sausalito where she was built. This boat was my primary transportation when I lived aboard at Waldo Point. Anyone contributing to the restoration will be welcome to take her out.
