Boat builder forced to remove 72 foot boat from his property in Newport Beach.

The Forum has been following this story. It's really a shame that some Newport Beach jerks are so hot on this guy. Reminds me of the time some folk new to Harwich tried to force a 4th generation lobsterman to remove his stored pots. At least that one was beaten back.

Generally there's some protection for existing non-conforming use. I hope Holland gets good legal help and if someone hears of a legitimate defense fund for him, let us all know.

In these parts, the town's Board of Appeals may allow such 'non-conforming' use under 'hardship rules', all the way to entry of that exemption into the property-deed - i.e, essentially for good - if the case is legit and the Board finds in your favor.
