Greetings All:
I've just made an offer on little troller type located in British Columbia. She was built at Whaler Bay Boat Yard by Greg Foster to his own design. The offer is contingent on getting to see the little guy and making an assesment. It's a long distance deal.
Anyway,
27' overall
8'8" maximum beam
7' beam at the waterline
Sabb 2JH power (controllable prop) 500+/- hours.
yellow cedar on gumwood frames
doug fir keel and deadwood
The boat reminds me very much of the Garden "Pollywog" with a shorter cabin and the motor box in the pilothouse instead of the cockpit. Advertised at 5 tons. I'll post a picture when I figure out how to work Tiny URL. (anybody know?)
Question: What is the process to bring this boat into the US? Anybody located Greg Foster yet? What's gumwood? Difference between Canadian and US equipment regs? Anything else to look out for other than the usual survey stuff?
This will be my 4th boat over 20' but my first one made out of the right stuff since a woebegotten plywood runabout in my teen years; about 40 years ago.
