I found a couple of old requests for before and after photos in my private messages. Sorry for the delay...I just never checked for messages. Anyway, here is a link to the Before and After page of our website:

The "one shot deal" of restoring a boat has somehow become my new career. I'm restoring wooden boats full time now...greatest job I've ever had.

Beautiful job. Man, I thought the Detroits were close together in my boat, there is nary a gnats eyelash between those Cummins!

Very nice. You are much to be commended on a stunningly beautiful boat. Thank you, I hope you have many great years together. Much handsomer than that "thing" posted on the "Naval Architects..." thread:D

Extremely nice. And although I was not a part of it in any way I feel connected because I have the same chair! Pictured in the "after" side about half way down the page, you picture a chair at the bottom of a stairway. Those are my dining room chairs.

I am so jealous.

Great job mate. Maybe I should strive for mediocrity too.

Youre on Lake Keowee!! I'm just West of Columbia. I have to get over there and see your masterpiece. Know any good mechanics around here. My 1950 Chris Craft Ms need some work. I cant seem to find anyone that will touch them. WHo did your repower?http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss151/cmeke0870/Transport/IMG00005-20091105-0840.jpg

Heart-warming!

A friend has introduced me to the joys of restoring three stink'n old powerboats, and they've grown on me. I understand it now.

I look forward to cursing your wake, sir.

My goodness Chuck, there must be no real mechanics in your area. It gets no simpler than a Model M....just a 6cyl Hercules, mechanic 101 stuff. Whats your problems?

LOL. High praise indeed! I'll remember that one....

So you're advertising a charter business....

Is that boat really USCG certified to carry 20 passengers? What sort of training do you (presumably the captain) and your crew have in emergency procedures? I don't see any current firefighting equipment, no rescue boat or liferaft, no obvious alarm systems? Even the liferings are of non-approved and have no proper retrieval line attached? Perhaps the proper CG approved equipment is just hidden away?

I am not advertising anything. I was sharing requested photos.
Second, the side-mounted life rings are decorative, as was always intended. Third, Lake Keowee, SC is a "Non-Navigable body of U.S. waters"...a direct quote from my correspondence with the U.S. Coast Guard. For that reason, they will not issue a captain's license to the operator of a vessel which is used exclusively on that land-locked lake. Furthermore, they will not inspect and/or certify the vessel. In short, they want nothing to do with the lake, the boat and me. I have copies of this correspondence framed and hung in the galley to satiate curiosity. However, more than ample life preservers, fire extinguishers and safety equipment are on board and readily available at all times.

Lastly, please address all further questions, inuendos and accusations to me personally via direct email. I ask this for your own good. Your attempt to make me look stupid, ignorant, negligent and irresponsible has back-fired. On second thought, just leave me alone.

Bravo! Only those who have been there and done that really can appreciate the amount of work you have put into this project. I am amazed that it was done in only two years!
I hold my cap in hand for this one.

Thread drift warning. Hey Bob--Although I will be immodest enough to claim to have some skill with wood, I have limited mechanical skills and these old buggers worry me. Is there a manual out there for M engines that covers basic maintenance? I dont know what the problems are--they are running rough. Timing? Valves? Fuel? Misfire? Electrical? IDK I had two local mechanics say they didn't want to work on them--ticks me off

Elco....

Sir,
I had no intention of making anyone look anything.....I am involved in certifying small passenger vessels here in Canada, old wooden boats are almost impossible........you answered my questions, thankyou.
