Anyone out there in forumland ever built or sail one or know anyone who has? I'm looking for something to do with my weekends for the next couple years, ie build an Amigo.

Here's an Amigo website of builders and/or owners.
web page (http://www.gkweb.com/amigo/)
Yes please if someone out there has built one or knows more about this design please sing out. The Amigo is on my 5 year plan right now and has been for about a year.

web page (http://www.gkweb.com/amigo/)Thanks, Roger. There's a couple email addresses at the site from builders/owners. I'll drop them a line.
Good Old Boat magazine had a cover article on Sam L Morse's Falmouth 22. I was struck by how similar the Morse boat is to the Amigo. Gaff rigged, standing headroom inside, full keel heavily ballasted, etc. I recall in the article on the Falmouth 22 there were a couple testemonials from owners who have crossed oceans with them. Very impressive!

Jim if you get any response from that page let me know. Last time I e-mailed them they responded but he hadn't built his boat yet (if I remember correctly).

Chad, doesn't look like that Amigo website has seen much activity. I just sent an email to Stan L, I'll let the forum know if there's a response.

If you're going to spend that much time building a boat, IMO the Bingham Allegra 24 is time and money better spent. 2' longer, 4" deeper and 900# heavier, but has a far nicer layout IMO - YMMV. Can be built strip planked like the Amigo and is trailerable too.

Meerkat, the Alegra is one gorgeous looking boat.
Thanks for the tip. I will definitely keep her in mind. Still, I need to place some serious limits on size. Another 2 feet and almost 1,000 pounds is pushing the limits of what is 'trailerable' considering my resources.

I ordered the plans for the Amigo yesterday. I knew you were all dying to know that :D
