Looking to re-power our 40ft 12 ton wooden yacht.. have removed the old 50hp BMC Commander and are now looking at buying a Sole engine, has anyone had any experience with these, good or bad?

I just fit a Sole into an old launch. It is a one-lung engine that is hand start only. The basic block is made by Deutz (air cooled) with a Hurth tranny. This was a life boat engine so it is very reliable.

Paul Gartside installed a 3 cyl 32 hp Sole diesel in a boat he designed and built for a customer, and he has had experience running it. It is based on a Mitsubishi block http://www.solediesels.co.uk/mini33.html

E-mail and ask about Curlew II. Let us know what he says!
