Well. . . .it is white, and it is made of water. Mount Baker opened this week, and we had a fantastic first day with 14" new snow from the last 24 hours to greet us. Katie was scha-reddin it up with her brand new tele boards.

I think I finally gotta spring for a new pair myself this year--been on the same ride for eleven years now, can it possibly have been that long since I bought new gear? I must be getting old or something.

I sure at least some of you guys hit the slopes in the winter too. In fact, I think that every single one of my surfer friends, sea kayaker friends and most of my sail & oar friends are also skiers or snowboarders too. It seems to be an obvious winter companion sport for active, outdoorsy types.

11 years?? Definitely upgrade to some new gear - you will be absolutely amazed at how much better a skier you'll instantly become.

14" of new snow at Mt. Baker, eh? Is that powder? Hahahahahahahahaahahaha :D

Hope you're having fun!

It was powder, Mr. Smarty-Pants-Moved-Away-From-The-Ocean-Back-to-Colorado Gentry! No seriously! It was actual powder snow. . . . .honest! And I can prove it. . .you see, I didn't have a bloody nose or anything after that full speed face-plant near the bottom of Chair 6. Talk about "hitting" the whitewater. . .and KT just laughed merrily away about it while I dug snow out of my nostrils.

And what's more, since I'm not the one who moved a thousand miles away, here's what I went and did with Andy on Wednesday:

Wore a lot of the same gear, too, as a matter of fact.

Still, I wouldn't mind meeting you at A-basin for some actual Rocky Mao Pow some weekend. I 'spect I'll get back there at some point this winter, and if I do, I'm bringing my gear!
