Oh, sure, those huge rust stains on the keel and rudder are minor cosmetic fixes.

It isn't an Indian. The Indian class is a lapstrake centerboard semi-dory like a large Town Class. It's a pretty boat, though, which might be worth restoring if it's not too far gone. The hull has been fiberglassed by the owner, however. :rolleyes: Here's a picture:

Not if it's been fiberglassed; burning resin makes the marshmallows taste funny.

The details are a little fuzzy, but there was a boat very similar to what became the Indian that was built in small numbers. It was IIRC, smooth planked, but without a keel. It may be just one boat was built, and the switch to dory construction was made for economy. Designed by Crocker working out of Alden's office BTW.
I wonder if the confusion is that this is one of the smooth-planked Indian prototypes which someone added a keel to? In which case it would be an interesting bit of history, assuming there is anything left to work with.
