    Are you an "upstairs" person?

In light of some of the accusations in the Quit being jerks!-thread, how about a new "rate the person above" game?

The scale goes from 1-10, where a 1 is a purebred bilge rat who never posts about wooden boats, and a 10 posts exclusively upstairs (which really makes it a 1-9 scale, a 10 would never appear in this thread anyway)

I don't get it. The thread title and the game don't really correspond. "Are you an upstairs person?" is most likely a quantitative question based on post counts that compare activity above/below board, while "rate the person above" is a qualitative question based on what you think of them.

Exactly. You can always look up people's posts by clicking their names, this is just a way to even the playing field of wild accusations.

                I give myself a 4.

I mean I really really like woodenboats and I read most of the threads upstairs, post fairly often, think I contribute to the quality of what goes on up there; but all my drunk and rowdy friends hang out down here and I succumb to peer pressure easily.
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Of my last 50 posts 20 have been in the bilge (not including this), so I'll claim 5.1

I thought this was going to be a balcony / basement thing.

I won't bore you with the details, but there was an interesting piece I read with a series of examples / questions with the end result of determining if you are a "balcony" person - someone who sits and cheers for their friends and their successes, or a "basement" person - someone who sits in the dark and snipes at the people above them.

Not the same as "upstairs" vs "bilge" - back to your ratings guys...

I use the New Posts button and check out stuff down here on occasion. I guess according to the scale I'm a 9 since 95% of my posts are about boats, technique or wood.

Even when I post about our boat or go sailing, I mostly post in the bilge.....though sometimes I wander up for fresh air....
