Charles M Saltsman, of Old Lyme CT? He passed away in 2005. He was an MIT educated Naval Architect/Marine Engineer.

You all might know him because he appears to have been an expert model builder.

Crocker's boatyard just sent us a stack of pictures of a model he built of our schooner. He built the model for the person who owned her in the 1950's. He built the model in 2002 at the scale of 3/4" to 1 ft (that's a huge model, since she's 53' on deck!) In the correspondence he sent to Crocker's, he states that fellow who owned her in 1950 recently built a new home in Denver, Co and was including a permanent enclosed display case for the model. Unfortunately, he doesn't give the name of the person--I'll have to pull out our abstract to see who owned it at the time.

I'd like to get in touch with that previous owner and with Charle's heirs to see if he has additional information about our boat. She was built as Mahdee, renamed Pandora II in the late 30's and renamed as Privateer in 1953 which she remained until the fellow who had her before us renamed her back to her original name in the early 1980s.

Here's a couple of the pics--you can see a much larger scan of the image here on Flickr (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3040/4072745863_890798940c_o.jpg)

What's more amazing is that some of the pics show the interior--it has EVERYTHING in there and the deck is removable so you can see it all. Further, it's a working model--there's a little electric drive motor in the engine bay. Amazing thing. I'd love to see it in person.
