Looks like 'Wings' is really coming along, a removeable stern, and some other interesting stuff as well.

I'm surprised no one had a comment on the removable stern. I found it fascinating. I wish they had explained why they needed to ship the boat in a 40' container.
Anyway, the site has been updated with more pics and more updates on the progress of 'Wings'. Also, on the North American square metre site the news is that 'VanjaVI' has finally found a good (great!) home with the owner of 'Oriole'. Check it out at www.squareskerryyachts.nets.

Hey Mickey Ive been a bit slow on the forum these days but I have the answer to you question.
Fagel Grip needed a new stern as the old had spilt planks and the ribs needed to be replaced. At somepoint in her past she also lost 2 feet. The owner has her original plans and had the 2 feet replaced with the new stern section. It is a seamless fit.
There is great advantages to this idea and shipping costs is most obvoius. Not just for her rebuild but future movements as well. She might end up sailing in Euroupe for the Euroupa Cup one day. Her stern is bolted on and can be removed at any time to sqeeze her into a 40ft container.
There will be an indepth story on her restoration most likely in the January website update.
I also suggest keeping an eye out for the december news.
There are some amazing professional photos from the very early days in Sydney that are mesmorizing.
Thanks for the great feedback.
