Almost time for an oyster roast/shrimp boil - lay the tin over the fire- wet the sacks, boil up the shrimp, red potatoes, corn, and sausage. wash it down and eat some more.
First ya gotta get the oysters

That's an awesome video! Thanks for brightening up my day!
Is the oyster boil-up a year-round festivity in your neck of the woods?

It's mostly a winter time thing. Oysters are only eaten in months with Rs in them, isn't that the 'rule'?
That meal was a New Year's Eve tradition for us down there (when we lived there), accompanied by black powder cannon firing.

ShagRock - it's pretty much a "winter activity" due to the summer heat. A few days ago it was was still in the high 80's here - but is just starting to look like Fall. Won't be long.
rbgarr - Yes usually my family gets together around New Year's Eve for a roast - but sometimes can't wait and throws a small one in Nov/Dec. Mostly it's how the oysters look and their availability. Anytime now is possible.

Oysters always taste better when dredged up by an old gaffer...............

Wow. Love the video...there's some other very nice fishing boat documentaries linked to the original.
Swedish oyster stew was a Christmas Eve thing when I was growing up.
