Zobel Sea Fox

I have a 17 ft Zobel Sea Fox.maufactored in Sea Bright, New Jersey. It has a flat bottom with lapstrake bilges and sides. Power is a Kermouth Sea Jeep (60 HP). Th steering whell is "flat " with the column vertical. The boat is "utility" in confiruration. I believe that it was built in 1946 or thereabouts. Would anyone have any information on this boat and/or photos or catalogs. The hull is ceder with white oak ribs. Thanks, Mick

Gannon and Benjamin, the revered yard specializing in traditional plank on frame methods and featured in the Michael Ruhlman book WOODEN BOATS, rebuilt one a while back......here are some photos:

A call to the yard may put you in touch with the owners of similar craft, or at least the owners of THAT rebuild, who thought enough of her to spend some time and money on her.

The G&B site is inspiring to surf..makes me want to get back out in my building shed..which I often do.

There were many of them built, and they were respected. I've seen them around, but not used one, nor known the owners.
