I'm finishing up my sailing dinghy and find I have a lot of cutoff pieces of wood in the most unusual shapes. Planking left over A lot of 4 ft. long 1/4 plywood pieces, 4inches wide on one end and pointy on the other, and curving to one side, etc. You get the picture - a lot of scrap wood in long wedge shapes. So after saving a few pieces for patterns and birdhouses what else can you do with this stuff? I'm sure many of you have found unique little items to make as a way to use up your odd shaped scraps.

What's the hurry? Keep the stuff in your scrap bin, and you'll be surprised what comes to mind over the course of a year.

Do you have any kids handy? A hammer, a handful of box nails, an eggbeater drill, and assorted poster paints, and you have an afternoons entertainment..
The art teacher at our middle school likes stuff like that, try yours.

I used the leftover planking plywood scraps from my boat to laminate a curved tiller. I know half the grain runs the wrong way, but it works great, looks good, and you can't argue with the price. I just couldn't stand to let that lovely plywood go to waste.
