I know, I know, but I have tried the "new" search function and could not figure it out.

Just a quick question. A good "clear" varnish, not one that is warm with each application, ie schooner, and one that ideally will not brown out over time. As clear as posslible.

Any input? (clipper clear perhaps?)

Thank you

I've used Interlux Clipper Clear with good results. Others on the forum have raved about Detco's clear varnish, but I've never tried it. If I were in the market for a clear varnish, that's what I'd try. I've heard that West Marine stocks it now. You can also order it directly from the manufacturer: www.detcosterling.com/dcrystal.htm (http://www.detcosterling.com/dcrystal.htm)

Good luck.

Detco has an amber color, not clear.

What you want is a two-part clear LPU.

Interlux, Sterling, Epifanes, etc. all have them.

One could get picky and point out that if it's clear it's not really a varnish but since the word has been watered down to mean almost any topcoat apart from paint...Sikkens Cetol clear gloss is another good one.

Clear polyurethanes work great... also require less coats. Epifanes makes a Rapid Clear, which you can put 3 coats on in 18 hours.

JD (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/) has been my source on this stuff.
