What do the teeth to tail stats say; much less the troops per head of population or regular forces?

Damn Wiki...

Yeah.... I nearly made a mistake myself... it does happen occasionally... I added up the various Afghanistan deployment numbers on the ADF site and came up with 2,350..... then I spotted another deployment.... which has precisely 1 soldier on it.

But we're the only ones there! This was one of Bush's cowboy go-it-alone campaigns. Why are those other people there? /snark

(Actually, of course, my most gracious thank you to all of them, and their home countries.)

At first is was mostly just us. According to the Wiki article on the Afghanistan war, the CIA and the locals kicked some Taliban ass.

Things expanded, NATO came aboard, then things changed again, etc...

What ever we do the Afghan people (mainly the women) will be the one's to suffer. The poor excuse for a government seems to have about the same level of interest in the welfare of the people than the Taliban.
