Maybe I should move this to the bilge for a while, since this is where all my drunk and rowdy friends hang out.

Jo and I will make every effort to attend.
We had a great time last year.

Oh, pooh, I'll be in Richmond, VA that weekend. The weekend either side works well for me.

You could always go to Richmond some other time. It's time to set your priorities.:D

It's a memorial service for Marilyn's sister in law. Trust me, when it comes to family, I have my priorities set. Her brother was in the hospital when his wife died and he and his sons haven't been up to having a memorial until now.

Sorry, Milo.
Well, I support a change in date then.

Paul Pless
10-20-2009, 04:40 PM
I went ahead and changed the date to November 7th in my initial post. Let's see how that works. . .

Would you believe that at the Tweed River EBS (TREBS) the other day, I actually only drank light alcohol beer - and coffee - something to do with jumping in the car and towing a 29' boat another 500 miles straight afterwards....

I could tell you about the big bar fight and that all of our women are in jail this morning, arrested for defending Milo with bottles, chairs, and other similar weapons, or that we got so flaming drunk that we never made it home until an hour ago, or that it was so foggy this morning I thought I made a wrong turn and wound up in Hell (Mi.),

...but I'd be lying. It was a good time. My camera batteries are on the charger or I'd post photos.

Looking forward to the festive photos

wow, I'm really losing my hair.

I've been accused of talking with my hands and have tipped over a beer bottle or two. Last night I think I accidentally whacked Milo a dozen times. He finally looked over at me and I had to think quick so I told him you guys were paying me $50 a whack. I don't think that went over very well.

The WBG Detroit EBS was at hit again this year.
Great people, great food, great service.

And speaking of service, here was our bar maid "du jour" at the "flesh and blood" non-virtual pub. This must be the bar maid Lefty has been going on about over in the Pub thread.

Milo is a very surprising individual. The Milo we met is the kinder, gentler soft spoken version of the online Milo. Everyone should have the opportunity to meet Milo in person.

Sorry Milo, I've ruin the online street cred that you've taken so much trouble to cultivate.

On the way to the Detroit EBS Jo and I clear customs in Port Huron.

The conversation with the boarder guard went something like this.

Guard: Citizenship?
Me: Canadian

Guard: What's the purpose of your trip?
Me: Visiting friends?

Guard: How do you know these people?
Me: They are boating friends. I didn't want to use the "imaginary fiends" line for obvious reasons.

Guard: Bring anything into the country:
Me: No.

Guard: Nothing?
Me: No.

Guard: No duffel bags full of marijuana?
Me: no.

Guard: Any cocaine?
Me: No sir. I'm somewhat nonplussed by the line of questioning at this point.

Guard: Any white pony?
Me: I don't think so, but you stumped me on that one, never heard that term before.

Guard: That'd be heroin.
Me: No heroin.

Guard: Have a nice visit.
Me: Thanks. (but what I really wanted to say was "Good thing you didn't ask about crystal meth" but sanity prevailed this time.)

It's nice when your encounter with the Boarder Guards is both informative and entertaining. The encounter kept smile on our faces for most of the drive to the EBS.:)
