Well, as with any boat repair, you always find something else that needs to be done as you remove parts to fix what you set out to fix in the first place. It seems Etain is no different.
In getting ready to remove the stem and replace it with a new one, due to the worm damage, I discovered a bit of rot in the wood behind the stem.

Here you can see the area in question. In the lower right corner you can see the size of the wood that's suppossed to run all the way up. smile.gif

This is a good shot of some rot in the third frame back from the bow. This isn't so bad...some CPES and wood filler should solve that.
Of coarse, in order to get in to replace that structural wood, I knew I'd have to pull some of the decking back....guess what I found!

As I tried to remove the pieces in a way that I could save them for templates and such, it all started to come right off in my hand. Looks almost like a 50 foot shark took a bite outta her doesn't it?
Oh well, such is life...I've planed my rough white oak and I'm getting ready to laminate it together. I'll just be laminateing it for a different part than I thought I was going to. smile.gif
