View Full Version : Rascal with jet
I have bought the Rascal drawings and the DVD and are planning the next project. Have anyone build the Rascal with a waterski jet engine?
Have read it somewhere, but can someone link to a project or give me some information on builders.

Haven't heard of a Rascal with a jet.
A couple of years ago, there was a WB article about a jet-equipped 22' boat that looked like a Jonesport lobster boat.
There was a thread here a couple of weeks ago about refining the trim/setup of a Rascal.

Not a Rascel, but one of the crew at hydroracer.net installed a PWC engine in a smaller runabout. Most PWC engines can be removed a unit which includes the intake grill and jet nozzle. All you need to do is modify the aft framing plan to mount the jet drive unit.
Note: The jet drive Rascel is now an inboard and a fire extinguisher will be required. Also note that when you are off the throttle of a jet drive you have NO STEERING!
On the Glen-L site there is information on how to cut out parts to use a PWC-jet (http://www.glen-l.com/jetski/jetjon-index.html) in a boat. There are also a couple of Squirts and TNTs in the build forum that shows this. There is also a Squirt on youtube with jet. So it can be done. I just would like to see how it has been done with the Rascal bottom pad etc. PWC-jets don't like flat bottom hulls.

Noisy!
My advice: don't.
Noisy!
Do you think the new 4stroke PWCs are more noisy than the 60Hp 2stroke the designer recommend?
I could tolerate the noise from a Rascal as long as it has a 215hp Rotax waterjet engine
