View Full Version : Best thing to clean bronze sheaves?

I've got some blocks taken apart to clean and lube the bronze sheaves (and bronze roller bearings, btw). Lots of greasy, waxy, skuz there. What's the best thing to clean these with--
soak in something? or spray on a bunch of Simple Green? Or??? :o

diesel, antisilicon, coca cola, parafin, turps, cleaning alcohol,

Don't use vinegar -- the acid will leave you with a coating of mostly reddish brass on the outside. "Don't ask me how I know this"...

Soak them in this super effective cleaner that is designed to remove pitch and gum from sawblades. It is water soluable, non toxic and non corrosive.
