Called him. Trailer looks like it was built for a 17'er. Says wheels are about centre of boat, about 120 lbs on tongue.
Had some rot at bow end of centerboard but has been repaired. Steel centreboard. Draft about 6-8". Nothing inside.
Think I can do anything with it?
If theres no rot, it should be worth $1,500, agree.?
Your thoughts?

Sails, motor? If they're not useable or there, the cost will go way up.

I paid $1200 for my Elver, and that did not include a trailer or motor. So, I guess I've been there, done that. Seems worth a look.
If there is no ballast, that boat probably weighs about 1500 lbs. (I've weighed our Elver to be 1200 lbs, ready to launch.) The trailer may be fine if it is rated for that much weight.

No motor. Has sails. Oh I expect to have to sink 5 to $7,000-- into anything I buy. Just the way it is.
Not a great boat even when it's fixed up. I'd wait for the right opportunity

I would not put 5 to 7 k into that boat!
But for a ready to go sailboat without motor not bad. A week of cleaning and painting and off you go.

If your budget is really 7k plus 1.5k, or 8.5k or thereabouts, you can do way better than that. Keep looking!

Naw. It ain't turning my crank enough to even go out and look at it. I've got to be smitten. I know, like everything else, if I go and get it I'll find something ideal the next day.
