So my isotherm has died, and they don't make the GE compressor or the control unit.
the holding plate in the icebox is good, but...

Do any of you know where to find used refrigeration units?

Thanks,
-Thad

Maybe Bacons in Annapolis. They seem to have a lot of used boat gear of all descriptions.

Or Ebay.

I got an Engel 15 portable electric cooler new and I am very happy with it so it might be worth consideration as an alternative.

Try to find a Danfoss compressor. They are used in most new marine refriges and are really quiet and efficient. Not sure about use ones, maybe try Dunato's Second Wave in Seattle.

or maybe Kollman Marine Refrigeration

Thad,
Try Fairwinds Marina 410-974-0758.. Also, theres a very cool boat junkyard in between Easton and Grasonville on US-50, I can't think of the name but its a pretty neat place, if you have never been there you should go check it out. And... maybe Hitch at Greenwich boat yard may have something.

I went through the same thing. My compressor went South after 25 years and I was thinking about cutting a new one in. Big mistake. It's like having heart surgery when your veins are blocked with plaque. It was an expensive mistake as my repair failed in a matter of weeks - on a cruise! I bought a new Isotherm (big savings in power usage) with a new warranty of two years on parts and five years on the Danfoss compressor. It was easy to install and I was up and running in a couple of hours. It's been rock solid and I'm happy I renewed all the wiring and the whole system.
