New to the forum.

I have been contemplating building a wooden boat for some time. Grew up racing Bluejays and Lightnings. I have decided to start with a CLC Chester Yawl to row on the Chattahoochee River (I could use the exercise) and some lakes here in Georgia. I figured the CLC design would be a good first project.
I have restored 5 motorcycles and built 2 racecars. Also worked on wood and fiberglass sailplanes in college so I am no stranger to the shop, though wood has been a "foreign" material for me for some time.
Ultimately I would like to take on something like a Haven 12 1/2. I've got the room in the shop to build one. But can one be built to survive fresh water and trailering?
As soon as my current bike project for my friend is done (1978 BMW R100RS) I'll be placing the order with CLC and trading out grease for sawdust.

Fresh water won't be a problem for a Haven (no, I don't have one but admire their great looks). Trailering will be slightly more difficult than a flat bottom boat, but others have put them on trailers successfully. There's one on a trailer at this fellow's blog:
