I have seen postings and websites devoted to an interesting cruising outboard boat that can be homebuilt. The boat is about 22" long, wheel steer, 25 hp outboard and trailerable. The most interesting part of the boat is that access from the cockpit to the bow is through the cabin but the cabin-top is made of canvas. The boat is plywood and has attractive lines. I think the word American or some part of the word American is in the name.
At my age, I'm not sure of anything anymore. My wife tells me that I love her and she's always right so I'm sure I love her.
Thanks, Willie

I found the name: Skiff America. Does anyone have any comments, thoughts on the design and performance?

Kilburn Adams is the designer and will talk your ear off about it if you ever meet him. It is a really nice boat. It'll turn on a dime and give 8 cents change, goes from nothing to 25 or so mph and you can never tell when it actually gets up on plane. You can cruise all day on a (small) tank of gas.

Kilburn usually shows up with another owner or two at the Rend lake messabout in southern Ill, 2nd weekend of June. He's always ready to give someone a ride if they want.

His site is here if you haven't found it yet:

I've been aboard Kilburn's boat and can testify that it's a well executed little outboard cruiser.

Just to add...I would be hard pressed to decide to build his design or do one of my own...and I usually do my own before thinking of building someone else's .
