I know there are all manner of pissers and moaners, people who don't like this cat's ear or my reporting on it.

I'm allowed, because we know each other, to pull on it.

It's full of blood, I see it back lighted.

We're supposed to like picturing you pulling on a bloody cat's ear? Because you can?

If you're going to stare at a cat, I suppose it's better to stare at the end with ears on it, rather than the other end.
I'd be careful pulling that cat's ears though. It only tolerates the ear pulling because it knows it may be able to eat you one day.

If you get just the right angle, and the light is just right, you can actually see right through a cat's head. Give it a try.

Animal ears are very interesting in many cases ... nearly transparent in some lights ...

My cats generally don't like me messing with their ears, though. It tickles them.

But in the sunlight, the map of blood vessels make the ear pink looking.

This helps them stay  in the hot weather! ;)

Basil has to have sunscreen on his ears so he doesn't get skin cancer.

Having a friendly pull, in no way harsh, is a part of the grooming ritual all mammals do. She likes it!

Cat's are amazing critters. If I live to 100 I don't think I'll completely understand them. This one looked me in the eye this morning before she went out. Beautiful yellow eyes, with that slit of a pupil. I understand how the ancient Egyptians worshiped them as gods, because in that moment I was staring into the face of god.

Don't like what I said about a cat's ear? Fine by me, don't read it and don't expect me to quit saying it.

Saw a large predator cross the road yesterday. Bold as brass, middle of the day, there was what I think was a Fisher Cat. A large weasel anyway, at least as big as Catawumpous. I've been chary of letting her out after seeing it, but also fatalistic. She's a tough little girl, but no match for a fisher.

Fat Bob was a very gentle, tolerant cat about most things but he freaked out and scratched the hell out of ya, if anyone touched his ears. It wasn't a good idea to touch his food bowl while he was eatin either.

I feel bad that all y'all are missing the depth and excitement of Ish's ear experience. So here's a picture, at least:

Cats are cool. Lots of personality, lots of individuality.

OneOnOne Bike&Coffee house in Minneapolis has a black cat named Triker. She's missing about 2/3 of her right front leg. She has run of the store, and areas of the basement ((where they keep all the grimy treasures (*Just* scored a Campy Chorus front der for $8, GO ME)) smell a lot like cat pee.

No mice, though. And now that she knows me, and knows I sometimes bring her a pinch of catnip, will often come down while I'm there, just to keep company. She likes her ears rubbed. Very impish. Often looks like she's gone off her meds.
