the cedar planked vessel is an ELCO , the double planked mohogany is the two hundred year old english yard of PHILIP and SONS of dartmouth , both are 57' in length , any advantages over the other in construction has me curious.

A double planked hull resists wracking(twisting) more than a single planked hull. My favorite method is to use Port Orford Cedar for the inner course and Hondurus for the outer. Hondurus can be scraped cleaner ,when fairing the hull, than softer woods can.
