HI,
On the boat's building plans (1914) is mentioned AEROMIN plate. It was used as reinforcement near the ruddershaft on the horn timber.
seems an american firm produced this or had a patent on it, anyone has an idea what this material was?( most likely some kind of bronze or aluminum?)
kind regards,
Werner

Just a guess:
"Aero" in the name means that it was for aircraft. That rules out bronze, I think, because aluminum is much lighter. I would think a good corosion resistant aluminum alloy might be your best bet.
I looked it up in my 1962 CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (which, 40 years ago, listed compositions of various "common" metal alloys) and it wasn't listed there.

thanks for the advice
,will ask for a copy, found that aeromin was made by "electro alloys Co " so most likely an alumium alloy.
