Couple of us are thinking about building Joel White's Bangor Packet sliding-seat wherry. Anybody out there with experience rowing this boat?
Construction we can handle, but would like to talk with people who have some seat time in this design.

The original owner has passed on.

There's a 4-page writeup in the Joel White book and i'd be happy to scan and email it.

The boat pictured is a UK built boat. She was built at the Lyme Regis Boatbuilding School and the man who built her has put her up was sale. He also still has the moulds etc to build again.

This is the advert of the boat for sale. Click on the "Contact Seller" button to get in touch with him.

THE original or maybe #2 is at Brooklin Boatyard hanging up.

It is the original that is hanging up, built for the late Ted Leonard a trustee and good friend of Penobscot Marine Museum. I have rowed her; she is a little heavier than most of the 'exercise' singles but also more stable.

And any forumite would know about the Bangor Packet and Bert and I.

If the original is the maroon one, it's Ted Leonard's BP and is hanging in his cousin's garage now, down the street from us here. I assumed the green one shown in the magazine and book was the original.

Ted told me that his was the first as I recall. He was a big guy so the boat fit him well.
