I went onto my upstairs balcony and felt the first cool northerly breezes in four months. What a relief!

Supposed to be only highs in the mid- 70s (F) for the next several days ... off with the A/C ... up with the windows!

Saw a red maple leaf on the ground this morning. Had a discussion with SWMBO last night about turning on the furnace. Algae is growing on the shade structure over the deck.

We barely had a summer. I'm not complaining mind you.

.

Weather reporting can be a bit difficult here. That 200mm (which never arrived) was downgraded to 150mm and between 3am and 6 am this morning we were lucky if we got 50mm. Blue skies now.
Spring blossom everywhere.

Temps here in the Champaign area of east central Illinois are supposed to be in the UPPER 40's tonight. Unheard of for this time of year. Generally we are in the upper 70's to low 80's overnight with highs in the mid 90's to low 100's not to uncommon. Tealsmith is right about barely having summer. I think we had less then 6 days since mid June of temps in the 90's. Very unusual.

Slept under down bag last night. Two days ago a sheet was too much.

High today was about 74, with RH of about 25%. I love it. Low for tonight of 49 forecast.

September and October are my favorite months. It is like September came early.

September and October are the best...At least in the US North East...But also coastal California...Hey I like all the months, except maybe Feb and March;)

A glorious day here today...sunny with a high in the upper 70's. Went canoeing with a couple of friends and had a grand time. Warm enough for a quick swim in the river to feel nice but not so warm that it felt hot paddling.

I wonder where the line was. It rained diligently here, only 50 miles to the east and is still overcast. I went to Rochester in the late morning and it was just starting to rain there as I was returning home.

Warm and sunny here. Still dry as a bone. Cool air at night. And still at least a month of fine boating ahead.

Just a hint of Indian Summer here on the lake.
My lady and I enjoyed coffee on the deck this morning while we watched a juvenile Red Tailed Hawk flying back and forth, working a thermal until he could make it over our ridge.

They used to call it the wild horse desert, and for good reason.
I hope you get a good tropical storm through there before long, John T.

Had intermittent snow flurries today.

Birds are starting to fly around in 'vee' formations.

Grass is a starting to turn brown.

Still waiting for that RX sail boat to pass by. Hope they hurry.

First day of spring tomorrow, some nice little equinoxal gales no doubt.
It was blowing pretty hard in Wellington ( the windy city) yesterday and today.Thursday the pilot had to put the 7something7 down on the deck like he was throwing a pizza on a plate and hit the brakes so hard my molars left impressions on the back of my lips. Fri morning we had an earthquake there, interesting,( my first I think) and the takeoff today was more like taking a boat through tiri passage in 30 knots wind against tide than a plane ride.pitch yaw roll yaw pitch squirrel.

That's nice......we've just had our first taste of Spring.

We had our Spring on Tuesday 2 weeks ago. I think it's going to be a long Summer for us. A bit of rain would be nice to settle the dust and give the garden a good drink.

I can tell its the end of the summer cause.

The tourists leave in flocks.

The Restaurants lower there prices.

Theres parking at the supermarket.

I can make turns onto main roads against traffic.

The Portland boaters leave the Marina and take there" I own the whole place" Attitude with them.

Whole neighborhoods are ghost towns and i can pee anywhere.

Never thought of that as a seasonal activity before.

Any indications of how Winter will be?

Yes never pee into the south wind in the winter.

If its a cold cold winter you are allowed to pee on your hands.
