OK, let's have a knock down drag out thread about queers. Here's what I want. I want people who are homosexual to have a separate union. All the bells and whistles of marriage, but not the title. I want people to stop viewing gay people as odd. It is a little odd, icky even, but stop that. I want to ban rainbow license plates and all the other nick-nacks that go with them. (All right already, we know we're one world, and your sticking it in our face is driving us apart.)

Just a rant.

If its important to you you'll be able to pretty easily look at two dudes or two lesbians that are married and immediately tell that that they aren't hetero ya know?

"By what authority do you think you can enforce what you want upon other people"

There's a million dollar question. None. But I expect certain constraint as dictated by our common humanity. I don't care if a same sex couple gives each other a smooch, holds hands on the promenade. I'm all for that, actually, it tends to cement us together. The last time I lived in the city I loved watching young lovers, was even one myself.

Back to the original question, we enforce ourselves on others all the time. It's a large part of civil authority. Would you prefer no speed limits, no laws against larceny?

Would you prefer no speed limits, no laws against larceny?

Yes, but when we create laws against larceny etc, we do this to protect people's property rights... not to enforce an arbitrary standard of personal preference.

Also, the law applies equally to everyone. We don't allow certain people to commit larceny because we find them acceptable while prohibiting others because we find them icky.

Get a clue, we've seen this act before. You've posted it before and any actual exchange with another person results in you saying:
1. "we" as though you are part of some community think x,y,z
2. everyone else is projecting and has problems
3. you're over it and it really doesn't make no nevermind.

Jack, your mind is regressing to childish rewards. "look at me, someone look at me!". Once you get that validation, primarily negative, you spin off some trite retort, "I'm over it".

I see the mere mention of homosexuals gets the audience a titter. Frankly, this says to me that you haven't accepted them. You announce loudly that you have, but you haven't.

I don't know that I have. I know that Chris was my friend, and she was in love with Judith. Both were my friends, and I accepted their arrangement. I know that Rebecca fell in love with a woman, and it was hard to take. I know that Ed fell in love with me, and I said "No, thanks." I don't know a lot more.

dang, and I thought you wanted a knock down drag out fight, now you want to read stories. I bet there's all kinds of on-line sources for stories.

The reason I wouldn't share a story with you is that the content doesn't matter to you. It's all simply a rat-like validation reflex. "do you hear me, here's my story, tell me yours" then when someone meets you on that level you move on. We're your audience, you're performing.
The cycle repeats itself until you get "go fly a kite" and then you get the jack pot, "oh you're projecting, titillated", "why are you picking on me?"
You finally hit the right button and are validated.

OK, MMike; let's talk cats. I got two of 'em. Cuddles and Pounce. Cuddles is crooked - she had an ear infection about a year ago that took away some of her balance, so she walks with her head cocked to one side and is a bit unsure when she jumps up or down from the furniture. Pounce is just a year old and full of piss 'n' vinigar. Maureen tells me she brough home a live chipmunk yesterday and a bird and a mouse today - both alive. We just catch 'em in the house and set 'em free outside. I guess it's sorta like us practicing "catch and release" fishing.

We've been away for a couple weeks and our street cats who rule the neighborhood, have been fed and watered by designated dog walking neighbors on the front porch
I came home night before last and no cats.
Ella got home just now and called for them and they showed up out of the bushes.
She patted them but she won't bring them into the house until her mother gets home Friday to take care of the fleas.
I'm pretty glad they showed up when Ella called for them.

It's in your mind.

Given my current state of mind, if I were proclaiming something like brother love, or love between siblings, I'd say it out loud. It didn't happen, it's yet another slander. Welcome to the web.

I'm growing rather tired of it. If you can't get your slander straight, then give it up.

Jack, you did.
In your inimitable manner you picked a taboo topic and phrased it in a third persons voice. The meaning was as clear as day to anyone reading it but in your mind provided you with the ability to disown ownership of the meaning. Your goal was to elicit a reaction and you hit the jack pot. For that very post I never made mention of my daughters lives on this forum.

You're tired of "it"? of course you are, you've given up volition to a reflex and it keeps working you over and over.

Most of it isn't in my mind, Joe. I don't know if it's in your's or not. Only you can answer that.

"Jack, you may not remember it, but you've also admitted to abusing your then partner too... and then spending ages trying to justify it."

Ian, you may not remember it, but my partner at the time, Rebecca, had no complaints about me as an abuser. Your implications are fatuous and I resent them. She hit me, fer Christ's sake. It was not typical, but it happened. According to your litmus she's an abuser. Not by my litmus.

Do people overstep, do bad things to each other? No question. But I don't think Rebecca giving me a sock qualifies.

Just to be absolutely clear. I gave a close fisted punch to Steve Bathaur when I was in fifth grade. Typical school stuff, we were fighting about a girl, Janet. The one and only time I hit a woman she was sitting on the toilet, beside herself. I gave her an open-handed slap, as I hope someone would do to me in a similar situation. Hysteria doesn't become any of us. It was not intended to hurt, it was intended to wake up. And it did. She said, "what the hell am I doing on this toilet going off my nut?" Good question.

I've never threatened anyone with my fists, unlike some others here.

I'm not really sure, but probably around 175?... a friend of mine has a small casting business, and he open poured them in sand out of the ingots that were already in the boat... it just made it tidier.

Yeah Paul, unfortunately, I don't seem to have enough time to get all this stuff done, and this year was extremely frustrating.. house renovations, working more for someone else, which means my schedule is not my own:D... but I insist on these boats getting to the point where nothing is left besides routine maintenance

We've had gay marriage here for ages, the sky hasn't fallen on anyones heads, the kids in the families that result ( by adoption, artificial insemination, the old fashioned method with a friend, or whatever) aren't hassled in school, gay people seem to be accepted by most, suffer very little discrimination apart from a few hard right churchgoers and some rednecks. The change in legislation brought about by the "Homosexual law reform act" a few years ago has been nothing but positive.
I'm pleased to number a young gay woman among my better friends, we've sat having coffee at an outdoor cafe comparing scores on the cuties that walked past. We've similar interests in that respect.
