View Full Version : Progress on Janetess, test fitting the rudder

We have been building the rudder for Janetess, my 32' Smaalders' designed Kahuna. Following the plans as closely as possible, we stack laminated douglas fir strips for most of the rudder, and then fitted and attached a trim tab of marine plywood. We vacuum bagged 2 layers of spanish cedar veneer to each side after planning and fairing. We faired the rudder again, and test fit to the transom.

We are now working on patterns for the gudgeons and pintels.

Nice job.... seems to be nice shape to go with the lines of the hull. Keep the pics coming...

Looks like a nice fit. Really enjoyed seeing the boat in person. It is even more impressive in person than in the pictures. You are really moving along well. Keep up the good work.
