As reported in The Low Down to Hull and Back News:

http://lowdownonline.com/

My daughter and her friends jumped in the river for a float downstream. The reporter caught them as they stopped to board a raft in the village. :D

It's usually the parents' fault when kids steer towards a life of crime. That's right Bruce, it's all your fault:D

The rafts are a Wakefield tradition. Each year, teenagers build a raft & float it down the rapids and into the village on Canada Day. The raft sits in the bay all summer, and local kids sort of camp out on it.

The first ones were kinda makeshift...

Boatbuilding skills seem to have improved in recent years. Last year's raft:

Leaves some to be desired in terms of flag etiquette.

I once saw a Canadian use the flag for masking tape.

Nice to see kids having fun outside... And without an electronic device.

Small town, eh? Doesn't take much to draw the paparazzi.
