Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a 1965 Thompson Sea Mate. Need to repair the keel area at transom .Also bottom of 2 transom boards. When I have tried to pry the keelson from the main keel it destroys the ends of the ribs that are screwed into it.Looks like the screw ends are under the garboard. Should I 1. Drill holes and fill with Epoxy..West system. Or 2. Remove all rotted wood and then Splice in a new 2 foot keel section? 3. Remove garboards, all keel nails and totally replace with new keel and keelson? Any Ideas. [URL=http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288829759

Sounds like a real handfull, can you post some pix here? From what you describe it sounds like a transom and keel replacement would be in order but you need to be carefull on how much money you want to throw at it I suppose. There are a couple folks here that specialize in these old runabouts so photo's would certainly help.
