OK, here's a specific question for those who already have build the Fulmar.

I'n in the stage of making the mast beam. Now, I do not understand the plans in this specific job. Here's the picture which I scanned from the plan:

It looks like it does not reach the deck at the top of the mast beam, but to me, it seems like it has to. BEsides that, I don't understand the measures: 20 mm square?? and what does Oughtred mean with "trim to 10 mm"?

Any suggestions anybody?

DurkJan - The mastbeam and the trim are two separate pieces of wood. The mastbeam runs flush to the underside of the deck. The trim piece covers the endgrain of the deck plywood. At least that's the way I did it. I hope that answers your question.

Thanks! I didn't realise that "trim" could also mean something else than "to trim"...

"MAST BEAM
S. 3/4" (20)"

means that the mast beam is SIDED 3/4" (20mm) not 20mm square. Now, if I could just remember what sided and molded meant. :D It's coming back to me-sided in this case is the thickness of the mast beam in the fore-aft direction. Look on the plans for the molded depth of the mast beam. Or scale the size from the plans. So, your mast beam will be a piece of lumber 3/4" (20mm) thick and wide enough to make the curve as shpwn on the plans.

Here is a picture from Bruce's boat.
