(none of these are suppose to be great pictures or works of art... they're just plain old pictures of boats)

Lots of time spent on the water...

towing home a boat which had technical difficulties...

Bit of a skinny tow rope there Brian.

Thanks for the water shots.... I should've gone there today myself. I set up to paint - and the wind started howling... blew my cover over, covered the boat in crap... so I wisely left the paint in the tin.

Maybe.

It's 1 inch Blue Steel rated at 24,300lbs. Boat weighs around 40,000lbs, but I wasn't picking it up, just towing it. ;)

But I did worry about the line parting, and decided to not use a shackle or even an eye with a thimble installed. I tied a 'bowline-in-a-bight' in the bridle to make the attachment loop, and a regular bowline to attach the towline to the bridle.

Both lines looked good after the tow.

Thinking about it, I realize I only tied the 'bowline-in-a-bight', but actually I backed the boat up to the disabled boat, delivered the tow line to the deck hand (who's actually a mechanic) and he tied the tow line to the bridle.

Looking at the picture, the bowline looks a bit funny...

But, it held just fine.

Nice calm day for towing. What is the water temperature there now?

My wife and granddaughter went to our in-law's shore house today. I stayed home to do a little stuff, and I don't like the beach.

This turns out to be the first day in some time that the weather says I should go sailing, but, alas, no car.
