Hi,

I am new to the forum and need help identifying my wooden sailboat. I posted a description of my boat some time ago and was asked to provide pictures. It is an 18.5 foot centerboard lapstrake sloop. It was built by Hubert Johnson - Bayhead NJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The pictures are located at www.photobucket.com/fitz252boat (http://www.photobucket.com/fitz252boat)

Thanks

The town class is 16.5 feet but otherwise very similar

It's really beautiful. Hubert Johnson built many boats proffessionally. It might be his own design, or a local one. You might do a search on the builder, or check with historical societies local to it's origin. If it's a dory it will have a flat bottom made up of three planks. Have fun.

I was really feeling stupid not knowing this boat. She is such a classic, proportions are excellent. She looks like an Indian and a Town Class and the Sea Chanty, all of which have been mentioned, but at 18.5' she is not any of those designs.

Someone please ID this boat and tell me where I can find the plans.

CarlF, do you know what the bottom looks like? How is she rigged?

I detect the boat envyometer just got pegged!:D

Yep, it's a perty darn nice looking boat. Very similar to my old Oslo 18 but this one is in wood. And looks faster to boot.

Wow, what great information! I will try to answer some of the questions that were asked. There is no insignia on the sail, I am pretty sure she has three planks on the bottom, and I am quite sure she has no lead in the bilge. She is a fractional sloop rig.

Thanks to all who have replied.
