View Full Version : Grey Seal Aesthethic question I think...
Hi people how are you ?? Im having a little progress on the grey seal and making the mast knees of her, I take a curvature with a small alumnium plate and then make the laminated knees, when I try them on the boat and put them once in the way I take the mold and then in the other way, the dilema was there.... what do you think what of them are better or beautiful or functional... it isnīt very much the difference but you can see that the have more curvature at one end and that ther are more straight at the other...
well thatīs it... thank you very much !! I hope the question wasnīt too silly...
thanks again !!

Personally I prefer the second arrangement. They seem to blend with the overall look of the boat better to my eye.
Keep up the good work! smile.gif

Good to hear from you Emiliano!
I also like the second arrangement. I think it gives the appearance of more open space, compared with the top picture.
Lovely work, as usual.

I'd third those first two, second photo, seem just a bit more space up high where your head will be.
Looks good

The second arrangement seems to mimic the forward knees. That appeals to me.
I feel like an idiot... some time ago I was trying to contact Mike Pilato to ask him something about the boat and now I see that he has gone... Im very sad I canīt believe it... I will try to contact Janet to give thanks for all the help Mike gave me... he was making a beautiful boat and now I know he was a wonderful man too...
thank you all for helping me... I will go with the second option..
thanks again!!
now Im trying to understand the bad news..

Emiliano: I also did not know. Trinity, what a perfect name for her. Mike-must have been a very spiritual man. God Bless

A few coasties I've known over the years, have called them "Pitch Pole Specials". Why is that?

I met Mike several years ago when he allowed me to check out his Grey Seal. He was a truly gracious man. I had also purchased plans for the Seal and he spent some time answering my many questions. He offerred me his molds, which I accepted. I'm chagrin that I haven't begun yet. I hope this spurs me to get started. The Maritime Museum isn't to far from me. I'll have to look into the Trinity project.
I too didn't know Mike Pilato had passed away; it's his rendition of GS that decided for me to purchase plans. I'm so glad the boat went to an org that will finish and sail it.
ps
Good work KNG; go with the second pic.
